The lore
This elusive symbol has been spotted over millennia, interpreted by countless civilisations and Neolithic settlements, it is not bound by one meaning but often has connotations of cycles and fluidity alongside the humbling power of nature ,each spiral representing an element water fire and earth. These would have been a necessity for those roaming the hostile lands at the time.
Dating back 4400-3900 BC ,the first triskelion symbol was discovered in Malta on a temple the second was in Newgrande Ireland in 3200 BC situated in a tomb, the rich history combined with the ancient folklore and knowledge has intrigued historians and enthusiasts for thousand of years. This enigmic symbol has been found in many countries and are often found on ships, tombs, coins and jewellery. As the first piece of jewellery was unearthed in the depths of a cave in Spain and is 142,000 years old, this is an ancient craft.
Commonly found with 3 interlocking spirals that exhibit rotational symmetry connecting in the centre, this spiralling shape is not uncommon to be found in nature this is likely one reason for its use, we use fire, water and the raw materials of the earth to forge our own matchless jewellery in a simplistic manner, taking inspiration and perspective from the way people would have lived ,the depictions and carvings they left behind for us to decipher. Here at Triskelion we are proud to know that potentially someone may one day find or unearth a piece we have crafted.
