Bridestones

Inspired by the Bridestones (North York Moors)

Rising like a fragmented colonnade above Staithes, the Bridestones are a series of eroded sandstone stacks that resemble ancient grave markers or guardians lost in time.

This piece takes inspiration from their jagged silhouettes and towering forms, with uneven, organic shapes carved into its face. The surface is textured and oxidised, capturing the interplay of light and shadow that dances across the stones at dusk.

Cast in 925 sterling silver using rudimentary hand - moulding techniques, the design celebrates imperfection and erosion. Each piece carries the feeling of exposure — to wind, to age, to time itself.

A symbol of weathered endurance, this object connects its bearer to landscapes shaped slowly by nature and possibly revered by early ritual.
